Each light holds red, green, blue and white diodes, which is why whites look crisp and colors look rich rather than washed out. Split the house into zones if you like, so the garage runs one scene while the front gables run another. With voice control through Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri, you can change the look without opening the app. You can even type or say a request, such as setting your lights to warm white.

The best part of permanent lighting arrives on the first of December, or whenever you decide the season starts. Open the app, pick your Christmas scene and the display is on. Better yet, schedule it. Set the lights to turn on at sunset, off at bedtime, and switch themes automatically when the calendar turns. Because the system is cloud based, you can adjust it from anywhere your phone has service, including while you are away visiting family.
